Everyone has biases whether or not they’re aware of them. An unconscious bias is one which someone isn’t actively aware that they hold. Some biases are harmless while others can have negative effects on us and those around us especially in the workplace where we’re likely to encounter all kinds of different people. In these cases learning to recognize and mitigate these biases will help ensure everyone is able to work together safely and effectively.
